CUSHION MAINTENANCE
No matter what kind of filling your cushions have - feathers or a trillium fill - after time, you can expect your plush couch cushions to become a little more relaxed. This is normal due to regular use, especially in the spots where you like to sit. As a way to help out your custom couch and its cushions, try to routinely fluff them. Not only will this brighten up your space for free, but it'll also extend the life of your couch and its cushions, protecting your investment for those extra years of lounging and napping. It's like rotating your tires - spreading out the filling evenly keeps the cushions firm to prevent overuse and extra wear on the frame.

HOW TO FLUFF
If you've got cushions that are reversible, where the fabric on both sides are the same, then there’s a super fast and easy way to make everything look like new. Give your sofa a quick once-over with the vacuum cleaner and then flip and rotate the cushions. We think it’s worth doing this about once every seven days to give each cushion a good airing. By switching up the spots where people sit, everybody gets to experience the best seat in the house - it’s only fair, after all!

It's finally time to fluff and bring your cushions back to life. Locate the midpoint on each side, then give those sides a vigorous hitting. Now the fluffing will have begun. Keep up the beating and the filling will disperse better. If you've got them handy, you can also use a tool like a stocking stuffed with tennis balls - helpful for getting things nice and fluffy. Another great technique, recommended by furniture pros, is to grab the edges and give them a good shake. A bit rough around the edges maybe - but it works to revitalize your cushions and pillows.

Got bench cushions?
For couches with bench cushions or sewn-in seats, a slight variation of the punching technique can be used. Begin by pounding on the seat and the back. This should be done from end-to-end to offer a uniform look. Locate the center of the seat and then use your palm, while pressed flat, to smooth the material from the center and then outward. To conceal any surplus fabric, simply tuck it into the edges and crevices of the frame.
